5 Ways to ‘Summerize’ Your Home

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Your-Home

Summer is in full swing, and while your clothing and activities may show for it, there’s no reason your home should be left in the dust. It’s not too late, as the warmest weeks of summer are ahead of us, and you’ll want a cool retreat in the comfort of your own home. Julie here today to give you 5 easy ways you can ‘summerize’ your home.

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Home---Linens-and-Pillows

1. Change out your dark pillows and linens for light and neutral shades. Whether you recover pillows or purchase new (you can find beautiful, inexpensive ones at Home Goods), brighten up your bedroom and couches. As well, when dining in your home or al fresco, use a neutral tablecloth and colorful accents.

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Home---Nautical-Decor

2. Nothing says summer quite like anything and everything nautical. Even if you are not preppy and not into boating, adding nautical touches (in a modern or traditional way) to your home will immediately make it feel like summer.

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Home---Rugs

3. Swap out those heavy rugs for jute. In summer, jute is your best friend. It instantly adds a summer vibe to an otherwise more dark and winter-like home.

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Home---Sangria

4. Infuse your water with delicious fruits and whip up a batch of sangria. Always have pitchers of one or the other on hand in your fridge to spruce up your lazy summer afternoon or for an impromptu gathering of friends in your home.

5-Ways-to-Summerize-Your-Home---Flowers

5. Flowers flowers and more flowers. The second you add flowers to any room in your home, that room will feel brighter (and happier) within seconds flat. I’m a proponent of flowers all year round, but especially in the summer.

How do you summerize your home? We would love to hear in the comments below.
