Recently Joan Pillow, proprietor of Joan Pillow Bridal, while fitting soon-to-be bride, Laurann Claridge, features editor of Paper City, in her spectacularly, modern gown from Romona Keveza, came up with a brilliant idea. Why not come together and service the complete Bride from wedding day to wedding night and the leisure days that follow in her life. So they had a one-time showing of Vera Wang wedding gowns with a guest appearance by Laurann and her very special menswear-inspired loungewear collection (that should make the groom happy!). Featured in the photo above is Laurann showing her His is Hers Shirt, that can have the sleeve engraved with their wedding date as a constant reminder of that special day!
Of course, the Vera Wang gowns were spectacular and featured many beautiful gowns, including a new trend in Bridal, the use of luscious, soft colors such as blush, soft rose and even light pearl grey for the non-traditional bride.
Speaking of grey, this event gave me an opportunity to chat with Laurann beyond the bridal-friendly boxers, shirts and other basic loungewear items and discuss the incoming Fall line that features many shades of grey and will be online on the Claridge+King site, starting around October 15th. It will also be in stores such as Kuhl-Linscomb, Longoria Collection, Indulge, Elaine Turner and Maggie’s in the Woodlands, in addition to the 80+ stores she now sells nationwide.
As a worshiper of that hue, grey gives me the opportunity to step away from black or white and still remain neutral. C + K has taken grey, a signature color for the collection, and made it the focus of Fall in basic styles that just look right in the softer-side-of-black color.
When I asked what her favorite piece was in her new collection, Laurann was quick to answer, “the reversible legging was the one,” a basic that reverses from black to charcoal. Also, would have to be the basic tank and long sleeve crew. My fave is the grey tuxedo shirt, new to the collection as well as the knit pieces that compliment her leggings and/or jeans. Also, in addition to the His is Hers white shirt, she now has a fitted Great White Shirt, another addition to the leisure apparel side of the line, plus great grey & white gingham additions to the loungewear.
