Chic Happening: Go Red for Women

RED is my favorite color and GOING RED is my favorite thing to do.
Here’s why………
Because Heart Disease and Stroke are too much a part of my family history, giving back to American Heart Association is a true passion of mine. Never wanting to miss a “shout-out” opportunity for Heart, you must make a calendar note that Tuesday, May 4 is Go Red Day once again in H-town.

More than 500 of Houston’s social and business elite will be donning their best RED fashions at the Downtown Hilton Americas. The Go Red For Women Expo & Luncheon is being chaired this year by Barbara Duganier of Accenture and Lesha Elsenbrook and features former First Lady Barbara Bush as the keynote speaker. Heart healthy breakout sessions, free screenings and marketplace shopping will begin at 10 a.m. for all those in the know to shop for all things RED, with the luncheon beginning at noon.

This year’s Leila Gilbert Heart Award for Guild Volunteer of the Year is the very deserving (sweet)HEART of the Guild, Joann Crassas. Please come and celebrate with Joann and all of her friends!

Go Red For Women, powered by the American Heart Association’s research, educates and connects millions of women of all ages. With one out of three women still dying from heart disease, The American Heart Association continues to fight this No. 1 killer by helping women turn simple choices into life-saving actions. Whether it’s eating healthier, exercising more, reducing their cholesterol (know your numbers!), or quitting smoking, Go Red helps women make these choices for themselves and each other. As Laura Bush recently said in a speech that she gave at ROCC last month…….”if you get the Woman of the house on board, the family will follow.”

Interested in taking part in Go Red activities or attending the not-to-be-missed, Go Red Expo and Luncheon, please call the American Heart Association at (713) 610-5000 or email Ashly Alberto, Go Red Staff Coordinator at ashly.alberto@heart.org
