Chloe Dao Debuts Her Spring/Summer Collection for Charity…

Chloe Dao’s take on asymmetrical hemlines in this top shown two ways by Chloe and Neil Hamel model

Chloe Dao announced to the packed house of her supporters at the H.E.S.S. Club recently, that this night was not about her but for BOPSOS, the Vietnamese charity that she feels so passionate about, and that benefited from the evening’s ticket sales, auction items and much more.

However, for those of us that are proud fans of our town’s own Project Runway Super Star who also just arrived back home from producing and judging a Vietnam Project Runway, it was also a big night to see all of Chloe’s Spring/Summer 2013 designs.  She packed the runway show with 23 very hip and fashion forward looks that showcased her love for color, pattern and texture…all vividly alive in her very creative designs.  She described her collection as a playful twist to classic silhouettes. There was lace in bold color, graphic prints in dresses and blouses and florals, such as her azalea print dress, which I loved  as a shout-out to spring in H-town. I was particularly taken with her use of asymmetrical hemlines and high-low hems in many of her garments.  I loved her tops as in the featured photo above, worn different ways by both Chloe and her model, that featured extreme high and low lengths that added a lot of style to a pant, skirt or short for Spring.  They are definitely on my “must have” additions to my Spring wardrobe….such fun!  There were also some more serious gowns in beautiful brocades. Every item had that special Chloe touch that you knew you wouldn’t see anywhere else.

About BPSOS: It’s important to note the charity here and what it means to the Vietnamese community.  BPSOS (Boat People SOS) is the only organization in the Greater Houston area that targets the Vietnamese and Asian community with social services.  One hundred percent of the proceeds of the evening benefited BPSOS whose mission is to empower, organize and equip Vietnamese individuals and communities in their pursuit of liberty and dignity.  It is a wonderful organization that Chloe and her beautiful giving soul feels very strongly about.

The following are some of my highlights from the runway show.  You must stop by Chloe Dao, the store on the borders of Rice Village at 6127 Kirby or visit her site at  chloedao.com to see the complete selection.  You will find many great additions for your summer-time wardrobe!
