COOPERATIVA, New E-commerce site featuring exclusive Latin American luxury fashion and accessories
It was a short couple of months ago (where has this summer gone so fast?!!) that I was invited to a launch of a new luxury website featuring luxury apparel and accessories from Latin America. The Pop-up showing was at a local bookstore/studio, TOMO mags and I was very interested but unable to attend due to a major conflict in my schedule that weekend. Since then I have received numerous emails from Cooperativa, read articles on sites I respect such as Who What Wear and seen ‘live’ examples of their very high-end styles on some very with-it locals and decided I must research this……what I found was a very glam, high-styled site representing many designers primarily from Mexico and Columbia that’s styling and products were over-the-top high fashion.
Here is what I found: Cooperativa is the first and only e-commerce destination of its kind, bringing ready-to-wear and accessories collections from Latin America to the United States. Only recently launched for Fall 2015, it currently represents 54 brands, most of which are exclusive to Cooperativa in the U.S.
It’s founder, Araceli Graham, is a native of Mexico City. She formerly spent 15 years in the business world where she worked in development for such global accounts as Pegaso and Coca-Cola. She then merged her business sense with her passion for luxury fashion and collaborated with several successful Latin American designers. This grew into what has now become Cooperativa, her first solo venture. She works closely with her many talented editors and buyers to curate the best offering from the many talented Latin American designers that are part of this site.
