Ombre, This Summer’s Biggest New Color Idea…Makes the “Mermaid/Wavy”                Hair Look Extra Special

Summer hair is all about being fun and easy! You want to look casually chic, while staying cool in the summer heat. If you are someone who has one look all year round, try switching it up and trying one of these great summer ‘dos. All can be transitioned from day to night and are easy enough for anyone to pull off!

Top Knot

For the hottest of summer days keeping your hair off of your neck is the only way to survive the heat! A simple topknot or messy bun can go from casual to dressy, and is one of the most simple looks to create. Finish the look off with a cute accessory like a headband or colorful bobby pins. Check out the how-to video below for a topknot tutorial.

High Ponytail

Tease the hair at the crown and use a barrel curler before styling your high ponytail to add volume, or go for a sleek straight high pony. Finish with a ribbon for a girly touch or a wrap a section of hair around your ponytail to conceal your hair tie.

Tip: For those of you with fine or thin hair, make your ponytail look more full by adding a claw clip underneath the base of the ponytail to prop it up

Messy Braid

For braids in the summer, the messier the better. Keep it simple with one single braid or add it in to a low chignon, and try out the fishtail braid for something different! This can be a complicated look so check out the video below for easy instruction.

Beachy Waves

“Beachy” or mermaid like waves are an effortlessly casual summer ‘do. Dry your hair with a diffuser, or style with a clipless curling iron to create these subtle waves.

Tip: Try adding a sea salt spray like this one to give you added texture for a fresh off the beach look!

Or, Play Up Your Color…

Coloring or highlighting your hair is one of the easiest ways to transform a hairstyle and try something new for the summer! Go for the quintessential color idea for this summer, OMBRE, like our own Julie did. For her very dark hair she went with a subtle ombre , or “sombre” as she calls it. This look can be done on almost any hair color and is very low maintenance, because you are never having to worry about your roots showing….they’re supposed to, it’s part of the look!
