Weekend Edition: Time is Right for Dining Alfresco

feature

Looking forward…..Fall’s cooler, dryer weather means dining outdoors with friends, “al fresco” is a favorite way to spend an evening…in Houston, we’re getting close to that time!

As the Fall Season begins to hint to those of us in Texas that it’s on it’s way or if you are lucky enough to be reading this from a cooler place in time, then you will want to get ready now to start enjoying the cooler & dryer temps by dining outdoors.  Last weekend’s cooler weather already has brought many diners out of restaurants and into courtyards or patios. So, why not, try it at home, as well.  It adds a lively and enjoyable dimension to dining and gets you out of the house and into the fresh open air with your family and friends.  I love it because it seems to slow the pace of our crazy fast lives down somewhat and we can enjoy a glass of vino and fine meal under the Texas sky…..a slice of heaven!

My newest obsession for my back yard that would be a necessity in planning the perfect al fresco dining experience is all of the new lighting that is available now. I am obsessed with the strings of white lights, particularly the larger bulbs that add a sense of warmth to any setting. Add candles, as many as you can find, and pronto, the ambiance is set for fine food, a special wine and great chatter among friends.

The following are several examples that we found while browsing the web. Some of our favorite examples of creative Table-scapes, a few decorative touches that you can add either outdoors or in and just a scattering of a few fall-like or anytime recipes (just click on the name below the food photo that will take you to the recipe), to get you started.  Please enjoy this easy, weekend reading and get ready because I promise Fall and pleasant temps are on their way!
