Jan Barboglio Fashion Home Presentation at Neiman Marcus

I know I am dating myself but my first memory of Jan Barboglio is as one of the beautiful Barboglio Sisters, a stunning pair, one blond and one brunette, that’s signature was their White Dresses & White shirts that were found in most high-end stores and all over the fashion mags.  This was in the ’80’s and came to closure mid ’90’s, which left Jan with time on her hands to hang at her home, to cook, entertain more and just become aware of the many things she needed in her home that she just didn’t see anywhere.  It also grew into a passion as she realized that she liked fashion but she LOVED home decor more!

About Jan:  Of partial Italian descent, Jan was raised in Mexico, is fluent in Spanish and absolutely loves Mexico. Her Grandfather has a ranch there where all of her products are made. She was born in El Paso but her sister and brother were born in Mexico. She gets very excited in speaking of Mexico and her products show all of those influences…for instance, she loves Milagros and every one of her pieces has a milagro on it. One of her signatures is the House Blessing Box, which she learned of from her Grandmother. She adores and believes in Angels (as do I) and there are always new ones in her collections.  All of her items have a card about the item, included, many of which are still written by her 96 year old Mother. Her favorite pastime is designing, designing and more re-designing  and can’t let it go even on the weekends. She has a passion for garage sales, estate sales and auctions and gets much of her inspiration from there.  She exudes her passion for her work and it shows…..a visit is necessary to see and touch it all to make many of these styles your own.  If you spend any time with her, she will give you endless options for everything she makes……I found her fascinating and invigorating!

Some exclusive scoop for My Red Glass readers…..Jan will be stepping out into other categories very soon.  She has mastered leather goods in her furniture line but look for beautifully woven satchels, maybe belts like the fabulous ones she produced in her past fashion accessory life and who knows some other categories could be appearing. Be on the look-out, knowing that whatever she tackles will be spectacular!

Jan is spending more time these days on furniture design, including living room, great beds for the bedroom and dining room tables and chairs.

Many of Jan’s styles are spiritual in theme and are always great tasty examples of mixed media….the roughness of metal with the beauty and formality of feminine silver.

Mixture of soft, feminine (flowers) with rustic metals

Many mixes on this table….feminine roses, religious candles and always includes Angels.

Note: metal chargers, one of Jan’s first decorative items made,  used with glass….and a newer version of a silver metal angel (she loves and believes very much in the power of angels)

Ways to mix and match to create modern looks…..classic crystal decanters with metal finials; try using rustic metal trays holding formal crystal decanters or as above, silver formal trays holding glass decanters with rustic metal touches.

Special candles with angels wings….updating traditional china with rustic metal chargers create modern table settings.
