Last week was Saks Fifth Avenue’s big Key to the Cure event, and unfortunately, we were unable to attend due to prior commitments. We sent Candace Thomas of Luxe with Kids in our place to cover it for us! Take it away, Candace…

Saks Fifth Avenue joined forces with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) and the Entertainment Industry Foundation for the 2016 Key To The Cure campaign in a fashionably fabulous event hosted by Jo Lynn Falgout and her daughters Christine and Kimberly. Now in its 18th year, Key To The Cure is Saks Fifth Avenue’s annual fund-raising and charitable initiative to fight cancer.

The entire first floor of Saks Fifth Avenue was buzzing with supporters shopping their way through the clothing and beauty sections. Smithsonian artist Franco Mondini Ruiz was painting live portraits and offering his gorgeous artwork at a tremendous discount. Blowouts and curls were provided by Stylingbar,  and guests were treated to complimentary hand massages by Jo Valone and polish changes by PALOMA, all set to a live band entertaining the crowd.

Houston’s most fashionable attendees enjoyed custom cocktail creations, tasty bites from Liberty Kitchen and Weights and Measures and delicious sweets from State of Grace, including their signature gingerbread whoopie pie in the new beautiful Saks Fifth Avenue store.

“Key To The Cure is one of the most important and valuable fund-raising and charitable initiatives that Saks undertakes,” said Marc Metrick, President, Saks Fifth Avenue. “We are committed to supporting the causes we believe in, and at almost two decades old, this annual campaign has raised close to $40 million for cancer research and treatment organizations throughout the United States. This year, we are thrilled to collaborate with SU2C for the second year in a row, as well  have Academy-Award winning actress Halle Berry will act as the official campaign, wearing an exclusive, limited edition t-shirt designed by Christian Louboutin.”

Spotted in the crowd: Lindley Arnoldy, Neekie Kashani, Ting Bresnahan, Jerry & Lisa Simon, Kathleen Jennings, Susan Hansen, Ann Phillips and Erin Stewart.

The 2016 Key To The Cure campaign officially launched Oct. 1 at all Saks Fifth Avenue locations in the U.S. and Canada, as well as on saks.com and saksoff5th.com.
