Calling all Foodies: 5 Must-Try Restaurants

Hey guys! It’s Vicheka here, with this beautiful weather and the holiday seasons quickly approaching, all I want to do is go into vacation mode, eat delicious food, drink  the best wine, and just relax with good company! Well, look no further! Here are my top 5 picks worth checking out

1. Dish Society in Memorial Green  –  Farm-to-Table Café that just opened their third location in Memorial Green Luxury Development. They have a variety of dishes such as Peso Pasta with Shrimp and Coffee Crusted Pork Tenderloin with Port Cherry Reduction. They also have  ample patio space to enjoy this gorgeous weather! Aaron Lyons, owner says “The first two locations were rough drafts ” and that  “This store is a lot closer to my vision of what future restaurants will look like. It’s exciting to finally see it come to life.”

2. Theodore Rex  – Chef Yu’s restauraunt had their soft opening last week and is now open! It is a modern bistro using fresh local ingredients. The menu is “divided “into portion sizes  “small plates great for sharing, small plates not as great for sharing, and main dishes.” Dishes include Fried Indian Creek ‘Oyster’ Mushrooms Pakora-style with caviar and sauce soubise and Roasted Texas Wagyu dressed with fermented radish and beefy bits, charcoal grilled-greens. Menu items are subjected to change, meaning each dining experience will highly likely be a bit different each time!

3.  Oxbow 7 – One of the newest restaurants to open in downtown, Oxbow 7, is located inside Le Meridien. The menu was inspired by small waterways aka bayous, what the Caswell’s- Chef Bryan Caswell and his wife, Jennifer Caswell call home. The flavors and inspiration can best be described as “elevated bayou cuisine”.

4. Kukuri – A Japanese Sushi restauraunt that quietly opened up on Washington Street. Michelin-starred Sushi Chef,  Shimao Ishikawa, brings the freshest fish from Japan’s famous Tsukji Market. Here, you can also experience “the unique Japanese form of hospitality known as OMOTENASHI.”

5. Fresco Cafe Italiano Anyone craving authentic , freshly made pasta? With over 40 years under his belt as a Chef in Italy, Chef Roberto aims to  serve  food cooked “al dente”.  All bread, pizza, pasta, ravioli, meatballs, sauces, dressings, and desserts are made from scratch in house daily from grains and cheeses imported from Italy.”
