NYFW Fall 2015: Nicole Miller’s Newest Fashions Inspired by Mythic Arts, Have a Dark Twist

Feature,MIL_0013Nicole Miller’s collection for Fall inspired by fantasy, included many prints and uniquely designed furs.

Nicole Miller’s Fall 2015 Collection is inspired by mythic art illustrations.  For those of you unfamiliar, possibly something like Lord of the Rings?!!  It was about fantasy…not just by taking a look into the forest but deeper. The end result was many prints and embroideries on dark backgrounds that evoke that look. Nicole Miller has always been one to mix prints, sort of her thing, so it is not surprising that doing just that dominated her collection. What was exciting and refreshing to see back in the fold (literally) was her return to solids and the technique she put on the map….rusching. It looks different here….it’s in some beautiful colors like a plum and a green, wiring is added at different places like necklines and for the first time that I had seen there were sportswear separates added to this dress-dominated category.  It looked good and was a welcome return to a very popular Miller look.  Her closing fringe items were well-executed with great movement and style to close her show.
