NYFW Fall 2015: Nanette Lepore Designs for the “Posh Rebel”

1FEATURELEPORE WINE COAT_0219I was smitten with many of the “tailored with a twist” pieces in Nanette Lepore’s Fall Collection at NYFW; particularly right for my wardrobe would be this deep raspberry coat…a great topper, along with the great cape featured below, for anyone’s wardrobe!

Nanette Lepore set the stage for her Fall Collection message by stating in her runway show liner notes:  “Fall 2015 – I’ve been channeling my unapologetic muse – the posh rebel  – to create a vision of a secret girls club unified around the rally cry ‘Rebel Society’.”  That posh rebel that she has designed for in this collection is that strong woman, like so many of us aspire to be, that is out there in the world making things happen.  The end result is a collection of sleek, simple styling with updated, modern tailored pieces often times paired up with soft, feminine touches and details.  A perfect match-up for today’s woman.

Also to make the message even stronger, Nanette’s show which took place two days after the death of singer, Lesley Gore, to whom she dedicated her show…did her final look at the collection to the singer’s hit song, “You Don’t Own Me”, which many of us remember as the closing number for the movie First Wives Club!  Another appropriate tribute to strong women who take charge!
