Dr. Angela is back today, and she’s going over a topic that many people come to her about. Often, women and men want to go forward with plastic surgery, but they don’t know what is best for them. Dr. Angela helps with this big decision today on MRG…

The beauty of facial plastic surgery is that every face is different.  So, the plan for each person to look their best is individualized, as well.  It is very tempting to see your friend who looks fabulous after a procedure and want exactly what she had.  Unfortunately, it’s not like ordering off of a menu.  Your facial features, bone structure and genetics will be different from your friend.

With time, there are a number of changes that occur in our faces, not just dreaded gravity.  We lose volume in the soft tissue, as well as the facial bones.  You can see this when you compare the “apple” cheeks of toddlers with those of your grandmother’s.  Secondly, the skin changes with sun exposure and genetic predisposition.  The previous “sun worshippers” or even those of us who have lived in Texas all of our lives, may notice some fine lines, brown spots and less elasticity in the skin.  Finally, yes, there can be sagging of the tissues and skin.  Everyone experiences a different combination of these three factors.

Not to worry!  We have wonderful surgical and nonsurgical techniques and technologies that are specifically designed to target one or more of these factors.  With a comprehensive and individualized plan, you can address what is most relevant to you to look your best.  This is always best achieved with a consult with your facial plastic surgeon.  Togive you some ideas, I will describe some different types of faces and options that can be good to address concerns for each type.  If you don’t see what fits you, please let me know!
