Rene Ruiz Makes His Way to Houston for 2 Reasons

I’m not sure how many of you know of Rene Ruiz, so I’m very excited to introduce (or re introduce) to you an extremely talented designer, but also one that holds a special place in my heart. Julie Bortnick here today, and for a long time now my mom and I have been major fans of Rene Ruiz. Over three years ago, my mom got her mother of the groom gown from Rene Ruiz for my brothers wedding. Fast forward 3 years later (and lots of recommendations to her friends to get Rene Ruiz gowns in between) my mom’s gown for my wedding (in less than 3 weeks!) is a Rene Ruiz, and my rehearsal dinner dress is a Rene Ruiz. So, you can tell, we are devoted followers.

Ruiz was born in Cuba and moved to the United States (specifically Miami) at an early age. He opened his first atelier in Coral Gables (South Florida) in the 90s. He quickly became the go to designer for celebrities and socialites. He has an eye for high quality fabrics and his attention to detail is impeccable. Rene Ruiz strikes a balance between old-world craftsmanship and modern glamour by blending Miami’s sultry sexiness with graceful elegance.

The Rene Ruiz collection is available at the Coral Gables showroom and at exclusive specialty stores nationwide, in Canada, Europe and The Middle East. The Coral Gables atelier also showcases one-of-a-kind custom couture, ready-to-wear, bridal and men’s collections and can be visited Monday through Saturday by appointment.

Most recently, there was a Rene Ruiz Trunk Show and Personal Appearance at TOOTSIES and a runway show at Latin Women’s Initiative. Below you’ll find a roundup of some of Roz and my favorites from his Fall 2014 collection.
