This Week’s About Houston Made, Dress4Dinner, and Great Sales at Chic Boutiques!

This has been such an all-consuming events week for me that I barely made them all and landed on my couch very late last night, exhausted.  So, the end result is a shorter, simpler overview of the week with more to come when my energy permits (hopefully next week?!). Below are some highlights….

Houston Made…..Designer Presentation featuring Three of Houston’s Home-grown Talented New Designers…

For those of us that are cheerleaders for Houston talent, Wednesday/Thursday (5/7, 5/8) trunk shows that kicked off with a VIP cocktail party on Wednesday night was a tribute to keeping it local.  David Peck, at his Kirby Drive Studio showcased designs for Fall 2013 of his own Crop David Peck collection as well as Jonathan Blake and Amir Taghi, all designs produced in the Peck studio.  Guests were treated to outfit showings, which were collaborated with Donae Cangelosi Chramosta, of Vintage Contessa that added just the right touches of quality, authentic retro styling.  Couldn’t make the event, contact any of these guys for appointments any time.

Recipe for Success, Dress 4 Dinner, Good Genes Awards at Tootsies, May 8, 2013…

The Finale event for Gracie Cavnar’s Dress for Dinner Trilogy of events finished with a great crescendo of some of the city’s most glammed and stylish Moms & Daughters for her 2nd Annual Good Genes Awards Fashion Show at Tootsies this Wednesday evening.  It was the final bow for this year’s fab guy-chair-pair, Ceron and Todd Fiscus and included Tootsies Spring/Summer Fashion Show, and following the pairs of beauties was the Marchesa Show featuring styles in-store for the Designer’s Trunk show there this week.

Willow Style V.I.P. Sale, May 9, 2013…

Jill Faucetta, proprietress of Willow Style Accessories Boutique at 3201 Westheimer hosted a very special sale of some very special trinkets for all who stopped in to sip and nosh while shopping many fabulous new accessory fashions that Willow was chocked full of.  Jill had all of her sale items, carefully packaged in color-coded, priced bags and the deals were amazing.  Of course, I purchased but had to show great restraint.  Just in time for Mother’s Day, drop in, as there are other items on sale for the weekend.

Cakewalk Style Blogger Event and V.I.P. Open House and Sale, May 9, 2013.

Style mavens and shop owners, Gina Cartwright and Jennifer Grigsby, known for their jewelry design and image consulting, respectively, had a special run of parties on Thursday afternoon/evening at their new and expanded space at 2604 Persa. Cakewalk Style is becoming known as a special little haven of fashion and style where you can find a very edited but right-on assortment from some of the hautest contemporary vendors around…….Haute Hippie, Equipment, Vince, Tibi, to name just a few.  It was such a fun party…..that I noshed a little too much from the yummy Korean taco truck and too many equally delish Deep Eddy Vodkas that I didn’t take any photos……just me and the girls! (Jennifer and Gina)
