Tiffany’s Hires First Female Design Director in its 177 year history, Francesca Amfitheatrof

About Francesca…

Ms. Amfitheatrof began her career with Tiffany’s in September 2013. She and her family moved from London to Brooklyn’s historic Clinton Hill because she was looking for an area that resembled the artistic community of East London. She has lived all over the world, a background well-suited for a fine jewelry company that boasts 292 stores in 25 countries.

Francesca is a trained jeweler and silversmith. She has designed jewelry collections for Chanel, Fendi and Alice Temperley; accessories collections for Marni and jewelry and silverware for Asprey & Garrad. She has also designed for Alessi Italy where her tabletop designs and gifts have been featured since 1993 and her design credits continue beyond these.  She has also been an art consultant and curator for major collections and private individuals throughout the world.

One of the key attractions that Tiffany’s sought from her was the charge to bring a fresh spirit of modernity not just to jewelry but to Tiffany-branded goods as well. She will be personally involved in overseeing her team of designers on all products exclusive of Peretti, Schlumberger and Picasso.

For her first jewelry collection, Tiffany T, Francesca offers what the New York Times referred to as a “Brooklynized take on fine jewelry…polished enough for a night on the town, it can also take you on a trip to the farmer’s market.”  This modern approach to the many new ways to wear fine jewelry that can be layered up within it’s own collection or with addition of pieces from your very own jewelry box and look totally relaxed but elegant with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt…..that is how today’s woman desires to dress!

About Tiffany T…

Francesca’s first jewelry collection for Tiffany’s was designed as an icon for a new era. “I wanted to create a symbol for modern life and its relentless energy that flows through New York and drives art and culture around the world.” she says. “This is just the beginning of what I hope to accomplish.”

Francesca took the clean lines of the letter T and transforms them into a collection that leads Tiffany’s visionary past straight into the future. “I took the letter T and I deconstructed it into jewelry that has an extraordinarily beautiful clarity.”  The collection also reflects the uniquely New York freedom that beats loudly at Tiffany’s heart, with an ease and lightness of design that transitions time.  She combine a mixture of rose, yellow and white gold and additionally, of course, for Tiffany’s, sterling silver.

Below are some of my favorite pics from the pieces that I was previewed here in the Houston store awhile back and look forward with great anticipation, your reaction to this new, clean, modern look from this renowned jeweler.
