valentine Men 2

by Beauty Contributor: Dr. Angela Sturm, Facial Plastic Surgeon

More men are looking into plastic surgery

Although 82% of cosmetic procedures are performed on females, more men are pursuing surgical and nonsurgical options to look their best.  According to a survey by the American Academy of Facial Plastic surgery there was a significant upward trend in hair transplants, revision surgery, Botox and fat injections in men in the last 5 years.

More emphasis on men’s appearance

Plastic surgery has become more accepted in general, and it has in the male population, as well.  Since our economy is becoming more technology based rather than based on physical labor, more jobs require interaction with consumers or business associates.  Therefore, it has become more socially acceptable for men to be conscious of their fashion, hair and looks.  If you notice, more ads are targeted to the male demographic for all aspects of fashion.  Not only is it more accepted, but more expected for men to look their best.

Need to Maintain a Competitive Edge

Men and women are in the workforce longer and recognize the need to maintain their competitive edge.  Since our society has placed value on being technologically savy, it is critical to communicate to others verbally and visibly that you are energetic, knowledgeable and on top of the developments in your field.  Therefore, more and more men are seeking cosmetic surgery to keep them looking as young and vibrant as they feel!

So surprise your guy this Valentine’s and share the love through a special beauty treat just for him!
