Hi to My Readers and Followers of MyRedGlasses…….
So the new year has started, actually a few weeks back, I know, but it has begun with a bang for me as I am starting a most interesting year! Alot going on for me personally and professionally. I’ll let you in on the craziness what will be my life for 2026….chairing some major charity projects, near and dear to meShop With Heart Card for American Heart Association, overseeing and planning for the Italian Cultural Center’s annual luncheon in October and best news, introducing our own travel business with partner, John Maguire…..Curated Journey by Roz and John.
First, Alan and I celebrated 48 years of wedded bliss with a weekend in NYC filled with a stay at a hotel we have always loved since our visits for Steve’s Carlyle Days, the Regency on Park which was chosen by me in days past for its then specific adjacency to both Barney’s and Bloomie’s…..always my “must shop” stores. Only half was still alive and well this trip and felt great to visit and actually shop there. Plus the hottest store in the city was Uniglo on Fifth Ave. with the incoming weather warnings it was all abuzz! Highly suggested by us, the Heattech products made all the difference in the world in very cold weather!! (not in NY, shop it online!!)
Dining was well planned as a mix of both old favorites and new soon-to-be favorites! That soon-to-be fave will be Palma in West Village……very ‘authentic’ from Puglia chef-owner and much of its staff! The old stand-bys we had been longing for did not disappoint....Pastis, Joe Allen’s, Serafina.……and a wonderful ‘soup stop’ on a freezing cold day, that Steve had found years back that was just as amazing as I had remembered it, Via Quadronno.
Visits to long standing ‘must stops’ in New York are always St. Patrick’s Cathedral…..lucky for me this time, that I happened upon Mass and able to participate……warmed my heart! Another NYC landmark that I had not visited in awhile was a trip we made to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we simply revelled in just being there in that massive temple of art plus able to see the Manray exhibit which was extensive and awesome to catch a glimpse of.
Lastly…the reason for our trip, a visit to Broadway for a show that we had been hopeful of seeing since it opened. Just in Time, starring the amazingly talented Jonathan Groff and a team of talented musical actors was truly the reason for our trip. Having heard that Jonathan was leaving at end of March and knowing that my hubby, Alan, was such a Bobby Darin fan…..these tickets were his Hanukah, Christmas and Anniversary present in one card! Tickets were booked so a trip to NYC to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary had to happen!
So, in closure, I have to add how great it felt to be back in a city that we love and never tire of……it’s been too long and we made a commitment to visit more frequently. However, it was great to get away and celebrate our anniversary and even though it was “face hurting” chill, the city was aglow in a fresh white blanket of snow, just gorgeous.
For the purposes of this first newsletter of the New Year, a great way to wish you all a more promising, hopeful year ahead and wish for all of you to do as we did and carve out a tiny niche in time for yourself…..it does wonders for your mental well-being!
A Belated Happy New Year to all
Roz
