Holiday Sequins

Holiday season is upon us!! Holiday parties are beginning. It’s time to look out for the chic party dresses that make you the belle of the ball at every party. This is the one time of year when glitz is expected! If you are looking to sparkle this year at any holiday party, then take a chance and try this winter’s hottest trend, SEQUINS! This Christmas, the Christmas tree won’t be the only thing shimmering as your sequin party dress will also grab lots of attention. Sequins are the ultimate fashion statement this holiday season, so allow it to be the focal point of your entire look. Afraid that sequins are not for you? Think it will make you look a little too extra? Here are a few chic tips that will help you become uber fab in sequins.

Be simple!! Sequins are best left to shine for themselves. They’re loud and proud and don’t like anything else taking away their attention! This is why accessories and bags must be kept to a minimum. The best bag to go for is a clutch and it could be in a pop of color!

Mix and match. When you’re dealing with sequin apparel, if you want to go over the top with a standout piece such as a sequin mini, pair it with a simple, plain top, something yummy like a simple cashmere sweater. On the other hand, if you’re wearing a heavily sequined top, wear it with something simple on the bottom, like a favorite pant or a great jean. The sequins really need to be the star of the outfit!

Look beyond black. One of the best things about sequins is that they come in a variety of colors and styles to suit all body types and skin colors. Some of the more unexpected metallic colors look wonderful. Pewter, royal blue and bronze are some of my favorites for this holiday season.

Less is more!! You want sequins to look as though they are natural to your style, not that you’re trying hard to sparkle. To avoid looking like a disco ball, think simplicity. Go with one strong statement piece. Go for a great dress, top or skirt, a fabulous hair accessory, a bib necklace or a great belt. Pick and choose, but remember, don’t over do.

Experiment!!! If this trend is not your thing and you’re not a glitz gal, but want a little taste, I would suggest purchasing just a piece that could easily compliment your existing wardrobe, such as a great sparkly shoe, a stone-encrusted handbag, or a dazzling earring that can be worn day or night with any outfit.
