The Talented Mr. Hannant Takes Us On a Trip to London Town!

Although I had heard of Douglas Hannant, I really became more knowledgeable and admirable of his work when I saw his show and met him briefly at Fashion Houston in October of 2011.  His show was my last for NY Fashion Week and was held in a small intimate space in the Lincoln Center Library where his décor was all warm and cozy and his audience appeared filled with many long-term clients that sat in great anticipation of viewing the collection.

Douglas Hannant’s collection this season at NYFW was English-inspired.  The collection was full of dark greys, plums, and burgundies with a few pops of surprise color here and there.  Keeping in form, the lengths of most hemlines kept to a tradition of an old 1940’s Hyde Park look, with necks and hemlines kept to a conservative look (covered-up looks were very prevalent on the runways). And what gal doesn’t love accessories and Hannant had plenty of those with a full range of gloves, hats, and tall boots. The closing gowns were rich and colorful in a beautiful vibrant red with mountains of pearls at the neck and a beautiful Kelly green netted with black.

Needless to say, Hannant gave us a very fluent runway show, for me a nice closing to a week of glam.  I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed the warmth of this classic show!

Color block sheath dress in  fall tones; Grey ensemble, very British, complete with hat (a style shown on many runways that will become a trend)

Blue fox trim suited look; Green gown, netted in black
