Hello all! This is Vicheka here. Happy Saturday! It may not feel like warm soup vibes today but tomorrow is a different story!  So while you can enjoy Summer/Spring weather today, tomorrow Houston’s weather will change and get cooler. Nothing taste better during cold weather than a warm dish or a spicy one to get you through those chilly nights.

I’ve put together a list of dishes that will be sure to make you feel warm and cozy on the inside.

1. Chicken Posole – Local Foods  – You really can’t go wrong with ordering anything here especially the Truffle Egg Sandwich with Kale Salad and Soba Noodles. However, if you just want to sip on something warm, I recently discovered the Chicken Posole Soup ( Chicken, Hominy, Cilantro, Poblano, and Pumpkin Seed Garnish) which has a decent amount of “chunks” so it actually feels like a meal and not just a snack.

2. Classic Turtle Soup at Brennan’s  – A popular dish that  has been there since they first opened their doors ( 43 years ago).  They serve a variety of other turtle dishes but this one seems to really have many people coming back for it specifically! Because of the texture, cooking it is definitely a process.

3. Beef Pho at Pho  Dien – While there are numerous pho shops around Houston, especially in Chinatown, this one is especially popular due to their flavorful broth, marinated beef, and steamed bean sprouts.  For those who have never tried, pho normally come with sides such as bean sprouts and cilantro. However, here they even have the option of steamed bean sprouts to put in your bowl.

4.  Pad Kee Mao – at  Asia Market Thai Lao Food – also known as Drunken Noodles ( not because there’s alcohol but because a man supposedly created this dish when he was hungry after a night of drinking. Thai Cuisine takes their spices quite seriously, so eating this will definitely pack some heat and get you sweating. But, it’s so good and flavorful!

5.  Hot Pot  at Little Sheep Mongolian – Anyone ever wanted to be a part of an interactive dining experience? This is it! First, you pick your broth- Normal/Spicy Soup Base/Both, Next , you pick your ingredients including types of meat, veggies, etc. Finally, it comes to you and you cook it as desired. This is hands-down one of my favorite places when it’s chilly out side and you just want to feel warm and cozy inside!

It’s time to turn up the heat, whether temperature or in spices! Hope you enjoy these  and tell me what are some of your go-to’s that are a must-try for the colder seasons!
