It’s hard to believe that Summer only has a month left as it is August now and if you are like me, you are wondering what happened. I cannot remember a summer that just feels very much like it didn’t quite happen? I know that being a Host City for the World Cup absorbed much of the early days and weeks……that exciting time was certainly a special time for our family and for our city in whole! I’ve enclosed in this newsletter our take on WC26 and how it impacted many of us! Add to that unbearable heat, some crazy weather trends…..rainy weekends and just a frantic mood that was all around us……much to do and not much pausing for the ‘lazy days of summer’.
So welcome back and hope to stay much more in touch as we bring summer to an end and anticipate a very full Fall ahead. I know we have lots to share as the season gets started!
You can start the month today as we always do with Houston Restaurant Week(8/1-9/7).…..having fun and doing good by knowing that every restaurant meal you enjoy from select eateries will help put food on the table for many in need this year.

Summer 2026 is memorable because I finally revealed the secret predictions written in 1995 by 800 middle school Houston children who predicted their WORLD decades into the future. Their notes were sealed until the July Fourth REVEAL published in the Opinion Page Houston Chronicle July 17 . Evan Mintz the editor of the Opinion page was one of those 8 year old children and he nails the takeaway message: Our Future is in good hands.
