The Best of Emmy’s 2016 Red Carpet Fashion

sarah-paulsonSarah Paulson was not just a winner last night in her TV role as O.J.Simpson prosecutor, Marcia Clark(who btw was seated next to her at award ceremony), but she was definitely a fashion winner. She was wearing my favorite dress of the night, an unlikely Prada pick of bold green all-over embroidery and beading…..stunning!

It started out as a “white night” at the Emmy’s. As I watched the beginning of the Red Carpet parade it felt like it was going to be a ‘color-less’ night. In addition to white there was also a token number of black gowns as well. However, when color did appear it came out in bold hues of red, coral, yellow and green, simply vivacious and strong.  No hints of blush last night, only the bold of color made appearances.

The evening would not be one I’d describe as an evening filled with exciting fashion. There were those special glimpses that I’ve highlighted here. However, for many of TV’s brightest stars that I have loved watching at past Emmy’s, there were many who just weren’t up to their own standards of fashion and style last night but fear not there is always next year or next awards show to keep us all interested!

Below are my lucky thirteen of the most memorable gowns of the evening….

heidi-klum

Heidi Klum wearing three of the biggest trend ideas of the evening. White, of course, asymmetrical details and slits by Michael Kors.

keri-russell

Keri Russell, always such a refined beauty, in her Stephane Rolland white gown with sheer high slit panels.

tracee-ellis-ross

Tracee Ellis Ross was stunning in her sophisticated, custom designed gown by Ralph Lauren. Again, the evening’s big look of asymmetrical, slit  and white!

michelle-dockery

Michelle Dockery, who I love to see at awards events as she always softens her Downton Abbey looks. Lovely, romantic and feminine tiered relaxed ruffles from Oscar de la Renta.

kerry-washington

Kerry Washington looked like no Mom-to-be out there. Wearing black strategically slit gown by one of the newest fashion stars, Brandon Maxwell. Completing her edgy look, a hair do to complement it all!

68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Priyanka Chopra was one of the biggest fashion stars of the evening seen many times on screen swirling her stunning sheer gown in one of the two strongest bold colors of the evening…..RED, of course. Designed by Jason Wu.

angela-bassett

Angela Bassett wearing one of my fave pop colors from many years past. Her gown designed by one of the newest “Kings of the Red Carpet” Christian Siriano.

minnie-driver

Minnie Driver, also wearing one of the two big pop colors of the evening, looked cheerfully sophisticated in her bold yellow gown by Versace.  Lots of yellow on the runways this season, solidifying its return as one of fashion’s strongest colors.

kristen-bell

Kristen Bell, so beautiful and feminine in her very full Zuhair Murad garden print gown. To top off her gown, she wore exquisite Harry Winston jewels that added to the elegance of her look.

claire-and-padma

Claire Danes / Padma Lakshmi were a toast to contrast of bold beautiful metallics.  Wearing Schiaparelli‘s bold gold gown was Clare Danes and in liquid silver from Naeem Khan was Padma Lakshmi. We’re hearing a lot about metallics into holiday so stay tuned!

maura-and-olivia

Maura Tierney / Olivia Culpo……these ladies took a daring move as so many women are doing these days and wore short cocktail instead of traditional long gowns. The look on each of them looked fresh, young and equally appropriate. Tierney in Christian Siriano and Culpo in Zac Posen.
