To master the technique of Contouring, Strobing and Baking…Julie & I went to the Charlotte Tilbury Team for a Tutorial…

*DSC_0298Julie and I wanted to learn how to master the newest techniques in Cosmetics….contouring, strobing and baking,  the right way, like the professional make-up artists do.

So last March when I met with the amazing Charlotte Tilbury at a media gathering at Nordstrom’s, the hot British make-up artist that is so in demand by such A list celebrities as Amal Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz, Kate Moss and Rihana to name a few, she did a session for us, gave us lots of products to use and sent us home with a ‘bag of tricks’ but unfortunately for me, not enough talent to apply it all correctly!  That was in March and this week, we finally made it happen……our own personal tutorial for Julie and I at the Charlotte Tilbury beauty boutique within Nordstrom Galleria.  Her team Juan, Roana, and Sydney were awesome and spent the time necessary to show us how to use the products we had and what additional products and techniques we needed to learn to perfect the look. Little did I know, although she kept referring us to her website, charlottetilbury.com/us/, how awesome her site really is. It walks you through every step of application and a thorough description of each product….should have done that long ago!  Anyone interested in any product or application should check it out.

However, Julie and I have outlined the process as simply as we could below, with exactly which product we used to achieve what end result and any special tips or techniques they taught us along the way.  Our focus was on Contouring (shadowing and shaping) and Strobing (highlighting), which everyone is into these days. The last, Baking, which is applying powder to the finished product and literally making it all set was more than we could deal with in one session and too much make-up for either of us to wear.

*DSC_0162Most important first step in the Tilbury process is to pick ‘your look’…..which of the 10 women you are or desire to be and once you’ve done that, all products are streamlined to that look for you……I was ‘The Bombshell’ and for Julie it was ‘Uptown Girl’. You can buy ‘the look’ in it’s entirety (Bombshell is $205 or 8 products) or mix-match products to get the look you’ve chosen slightly modified to skin tone or preferences.

The finished product….Julie and I and the Charlotte Tilbury Team at Nordstrom Galleria, here in Houston (Sydney, Juan, and Roana) made us look pretty glamorous!  Treat yourself to a trip to the website, again it’s charlottetilbury.com/us and you will learn so much. May you pick your favorite want-to-be look and go from there…..such fun we had and you can also!
