Chic New Accessory…Two in One?

The first time I met Lori, the necklace scarf gal, she was the winner and I became the loser because it was at the Go Red Luncheon for Heart.  I was busy that day, but noticed several of my friends walking around with these great looking long scarves that had various different styles of silver and/or jewels at the neck.  They were all different and great looking, that’s the good news (that obviously a lot of them were being sold and Heart was making money!). The bad news for me was that by the time I made it over to her booth, it was a wipe-out! I wanted one and couldn’t have one because all of the colors that I could use were gone and no more coming in until Fall!

Well, Fall is here!  The proprietor of these “necklace scarves” is Lori Loria de Hess. She lives in West University and sells these scarves, handmade by a woman in Spain, exclusively in Houston, out of her home. She receives her shipments when the senora has completed large enough quantities (that’s a way to say randomly and not often) but when she does receive them, they are lots and well worth the wait.  The quality is a fine cotton jersey, long and a very wide, pashmina-like size that varies somewhat by scarf as many hand-made items do.  The colors are endless……heavy in neutrals such as black, white, khaki and a yummy heather grey, but also tons of color choices from bold to jeweled. Pricing is simple, they are all $155!

I was lucky enough to have been contacted by Lori, just in time for The Women’s Fund, Rockin’ Resiliencey Luncheon and Market Extravaganza this past Saturday at the Post Oak Hilton and once again, she was a huge success with the ladies and many were sold. This time, I knew enough to buy mine early.  However, the good news is that since this is the first big shipment of the Fall Season, she still owns lots in all color options.

Styling Tips:   A few things to remember about  the versatility of these scarves and the many ways that they can be worn as demonstrated for us by Lori…

  • most popular worn at the neck with the jewels to the front and hanging long and loose down the fron
  • if air conditioning makes you chilled, you can place as above, but open up the width of the scarf to use it as a wrap as well
  • hanging by the pool, take to the waist; off to the side it makes a great sarong
  • if your dress or top are bare, it can be turned around with the silver/jeweled part at the back of the neck for a sexy new back-interest look.

Be creative, the options are limitless with this new accent to your wardrobe that you can wear with dresses, suits or jeans.  The fun part about it is that it is truly unique, not something you will see everywhere.

For more details, contact Lori directly at (713) 540-8152 or email her at om_chilanga@yahoo.com.  Enjoy for yourself or buy as a holiday present, trust me, they’ll love it and it’s something for the person that has everything because they won’t have this!
