Ah, Fall.  School is back in session, the air is crisper, the leaves are starting to turn…..oh, who am I kidding?  I live in Houston so I’m drinking my pumpkin spice latte in our cooler 90-degree weather (and enjoying it!).  Regardless of how it feels outside, Fall is here and is my favorite season for fashion and beauty.

This year’s beauty trends are dare I say, wearable.  As trends go, sometimes they can be so off the chart that they don’t translate down to everyday reality.  Maybe since we are coming out of hibernation (read: Covid), the industry got together and decided to ease us back into makeup.  Smart play.  Read on to learn how to achieve the season’s latest looks and click on the images for product information.

Skin

Normally, Foundation reigns Queen during the Fall months.  After the Summer hiatus, brands look to introduce base options that provide coverage.  Not this year.  Dewy skin is the look of the season, which starts with a great skincare routine.  Opt for a light coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer to even your skin tone and don’t worry, concealer is still allowed where you need extra coverage.

Eyes

So when I said this year’s trends were wearable, I glazed over the brow bleaching trend.  While that’s not for me, I am glad to see that full, natural looking brows are the look of the season.  Jewel tones and metallic shades for eyeshadows, graphic liner, smudged smoky eyes can all be a part of your look.  The eyes are having tons of fun where you can explore and mix and match any of these trends.

Cheeks

To further keep the skin dewy, cream blushes are hot this season.  The look runs from a natural flush on the apples of your cheeks to ‘freezer burn’ cheeks, which just means the flush starts up higher on the cheekbone and extends out to your temples. I like using my finger to apply cream blushes, tapping in a little pigment at a time and building until I get the look I want.

Lips

The look ranges from vinyl lips, meaning ultra-high pigment and high shine, to blurred lips which is a pop of color without defined lines. It doesn’t matter if you go bold or for a  more soft look, red is the color of the season (yay!).

I am so happy that our world is in a place where makeup is back. Have fun experimenting with these trends and tell us below which ones you like best!
