Lots of Changes Happening at the Galleria and It’s Starting Very Soon

Hi,  Julie here today and while the weather has given us all a case of the winter blues, we thought it would be a nice break to think Spring and take a look at some bright spots headed our way in the near future. With Spring Break upon us, if you’re planning on having a staycation (or if you’re just visiting Houston from far or near), The Galleria is certainly a destination. Some of our spring break friendly favorites include H&M, J.Crew, Club MonacoNordstrom and the newly expanded Zara to name just a few, but the choices are endless. However, here’s a warning in case you haven’t heard, you must try to save some of your spring break $$$’s so you can spend it at the brand new flagship TOPSHOP and TOPMAN opening just around the corner, on March 26.

What we are also very excited about sharing is the $250 million transformation of this very well known Simon Company mall.  While this won’t be done for a little while, there are so many new things happening at The Galleria right now, in various stages,  that I’ll be filling you in on below.

It’s finally here and in a big way. While it remains in 50+ Nordstrom’s stores, including our Galleria, this flagship store will be only the 9th of this international brand, originating in the UK, to open in the U.S. The two floor, 17,000 square foot space will be TOPSHOPand TOPMAN’s first store in Houston, Texas. TOPSHOP being on the first floor will feature the brand’s Boutique line, mainline collections, denim, accessories, tall, petite, shoes, beauty, and select designer collaborations. TOPMAN will be found on the second floor with suiting, denim, TOPMAN mainline, footwear, and various independent brands.

There will be stylists on site to offer complimentary style advice and inspiration on the latest looks and trends. There will be 19 changing rooms on the first floor and 7 rooms on the second. Plenty of space to try on all of their many style selections and learn from their team, how to make all look just perfect!

Looking forward: Luxury Transformation of The Galleria

Simon is investing a total of $250 million to further elevate the shopping experience at The Galleria. This will include a renovation of the luxury wing to complement the previously announced construction of a new, state-of-the-art flagship Saks store, the addition of 110,000 square feet of new retail space, and the creation of a 14,000 square food free standing retail building.

Galleria Exterior

The renovation will commence this spring. Major interior enhancements will take place, with a sophisticated design and a new color palette of black and white. White marble will be put in place, along with black granite accents. The areas will also have elevated lighting, new seating, rugs, and enhanced interior landscaping. The food court will also be transformed with upgraded tile, lighting, furniture, and a broader selection of food choices.

Saks Fifth Avenue Redevelopment

In spring of 2016, Saks will relocate to a new, state-of-the-art 200,000 square foot flagship store adjacent to their current location. Once this opens, Simon will be converting the existing Saks store into a new multi-level mall extension anchored by Saks on one end and Neiman’s on the other. This space will be open to 35 new and unique retailers and restaurants.

As you can see, there is a lot going on at The Galleria and so much more coming up soon enough. It’s no wonder The Galleria sees more than 30 million visitors each year and is Texas’ largest shopping center (and fourth largest domain nationally).

Have a fabulous spring break and happy shopping!   xo, Julie
