In a city where fashion meets philanthropy, the 40th anniversary of the Houston Heart Ball proved to be an evening of unparalleled elegance, marked by a spirit of generosity that illuminated the ballroom of the Hilton Americas Hotel. Hosted by Chair Kelly Hackett, this milestone event not only commemorated a Century of the American Heart Association’s relentless pursuit of healthier communities. The evening also raised an astounding $1.25 million to support its life-saving work to fight heart disease and stroke.

As guests entered the lively venue, they were greeted by the electrifying sounds of Demola’s electric violin, setting the tone for a night of celebration and giving. The air buzzed with excitement as attendees mingled during the cocktail hour, their anticipation heightened by the promise of an unforgettable evening ahead.

Throughout the evening, the spotlight also illuminated the dedicated individuals and organizations honored for their tireless efforts in advancing health equity and fostering healthier communities. Their unwavering commitment elicited a standing ovation from the crowd, highlighting the collective resolve to effect positive change.

The program, emceed by Khambrel Marshall, unfolded with poignant moments and inspiring stories. The spotlight shone on Wallis Marsh, a featured survivor whose journey served as a powerful reminder of the importance of heart health. His heartfelt tale, accompanied by a touching tribute to his wife DeeDee, who was instrumental in saving his life, underscored the impact of the American Heart Association’s work in saving lives and promoting wellness.

Amidst the sea of vibrant hues and floral arrangements adorning the tables, the live auction unfolded with exhilarating energy. Auctioneer Logan Thomas presided over a flurry of bids, culminating in a captivating duel between Kelly Hackett and Peter Fluor over a dazzling pair of ruby and diamond earrings. In a gracious display of generosity, Kelly ultimately secured the earrings, only to surprise Peter by gifting them to him—a gesture emblematic of the evening’s ethos of selflessness and camaraderie.

As the program drew to a close, a champagne toast led by Tim Singletary and Joanne Houck, esteemed supporters of the American Heart Association, marked a moment of reflection and celebration. The ensuing balloon drop signaled the commencement of an exuberant dance party, with guests reveling in the joyous atmosphere and creating cherished memories on the dance floor.

Among the luminaries in attendance were names synonymous with both style and substance, that defines the Houston social scene.
