Houston Restaurant Week 2020 is HERE

This year's HRW Motto, "Take Out and Do Good" reflects that times may be different, but our favorite dining event of the year is still happening!

This pandemic has impacted the Houston restaurant industry greatly unfortunately so we’re thrilled that Houston Restaurant Weeks is still happening this year so we have an extra opportunity to support these deliciously wonderful establishments all the while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. For 38 days, diners will enjoy specially priced, multi-course prix-fixe menus for brunch, lunch, and dinner with take-out and delivery options added this year, too!

Houston Restaurant Weeks was founded in 2003 by Cleverley Stone, who sadly passed away this past May. Her daughter, Katie Stone, has since taken it over. Cleverley’s final wish was that HRW continues in perpetuity in her name. Since it began, HRW has raised over $16.6 million for the Houston Food Bank, which has enabled HFB to provide almost 44.1 million meals for Houstonians who are food insecure.

This year, HRW will take place from August 1 – September 7 and 225 restaurants from all over the city are included. Some participating restaurants may require reservations, although walk-ins will be accepted at most locations. You can see the full list of restaurants here along with more detailed information.

So, starting Aug. 1, anyone looking to save some money can dine at a selection of restaurants in the Houston area offering reduced prices on some of their menu options.

As reported by ABC13, “Diners who want to stay at home can take advantage of the multi-course prix fixe menus that will be available for takeout and delivery at some of the restaurants”. This is an addition this year. In fact, Houston Restaurant Weeks’ motto “Dine Out and Do Good” is now “Take Out and Do Good.” One dollar from each meal purchased will be donated to the Houston Food Bank. The donation amount is smaller than in past years, but it allows more establishments to participate and helps support workers in the hard-hit Houston-area restaurant industry.

Stay tuned as we, at MyRedGlasses highlight Houston area restaurants and Houston Restaurant Weeks to encourage support for our local restaurants and help the Houston Area Food Bank collect donations for many of the those in need in our city. We will be focusing our month on highlighting restaurants in our town!
