Introducing Pantone’s Color(s) of the Year 2021

We couldn’t love Pantone’s picks for the color(s) of 2021 more. It’s a duo of Illuminating (a light-medium shade of yellow) and Ultimate Grey (a light-medium shade of grey).

It goes without saying that yellow is the most cheerful, uplifting color out there, so after a tumultuous 2020, I think we could all use the brightness and feel good nature that this yellow hue brings. And grey in any shade is simply a solid color, and we could all use some grounding and foundation right about now, too.

Pantone sums up this ideal duo perfectly:

PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, two independent colors that highlight how different elements come together to support one another, best express the mood for Pantone Color of the Year 2021. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is one of strength and positivity. It is a story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly.

A message of happiness supported by fortitude, the combination of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is aspirational and gives us hope. We need to feel that everything is going to get brighter – this is essential to the human spirit.

We’re really looking forward to seeing how these colors are going to be integrated into fashion, accessories, and interiors in the months to come. They are beautiful together, as well as on their own.

Stay tuned in the new year as we show you all the ways to war these colors together (and on their own), how we’re incorporating them into our homes, accessories, and more. Here’s to a bright 2021!
