The Messy Bun A Must for Spring Hair

Messy-Bun

When it comes to hair care, I’m of the mentality “the easier the better.” I don’t like to spend a lot of time on my hair, but I have long thick hair so it’s either getting blow outs often (which isn’t necessarily a good thing for the bank account) or finding easy, no fuss hair styles that still look chic and cool.

Enter: the messy bun.

Julie here today, and one of my personal favorite hairstyles has to be the messy bun. It’s literally just that…a messy bun.

As you may have noticed in the recent Chanel runway show messy buns were the hairstyle (as seen above). And how fabulous does it look? Also, it should be noted that our soon-to-be-newest member of the British Royal Family, Meghan Markle created quite a stir in London when she showed up at a radio station tour, her second public appearance, sporting a ‘messy bun’. Both the British and U.S. media channels were all abuzz with the news of this departure from Royal protocol.

What’s great about this hairstyle is that it doesn’t require much of anything in terms of products, hair accessories, or time.

It takes a matter of seconds to achieve said style. And all you need is a good hair tie and possibly a little hair accessory (linked below) you can use if you’d like.

I simply gather all my hair at the spot where I want the messy bun to be (typically towards the top of my head, but you can also do it at the nape of the neck, etc). I then loop my hair through the hair tie two times, and the third time I stop about half way and let pieces stick out. It should be, well, messy! I then pull some of the shorter pieces out around my face, and there you have it.

Like I said, easy.

Below are some chic looking messy buns, along with some hair accessories you can purchase here and some links to YouTube video tutorials to help you achieve this look all spring and summer long.
