The prominent Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is currently being showcased at The Houston Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibit, titled Kusama: At the End of the Universe, showcases two of Kusama’s signature infinity rooms. These widely recognized immersive installations have inspired people for over five decades, manifesting into a cult classic. The captivating infinity rooms create a sense of wonderment, and for a moment the viewer slips into another world.

The first infinity room, Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity (2009), is a mesmerizing space with glass mirrors lined around the walls with twinkling golden LED lights. The room has a starry night meet cosmos experience. The second infinity room, Love is Calling (2013), “features glowing tentacle-like forms, with the color-changing soft sculptures covered in Kusama’s signature dots.” The room also has the artist’s voice reciting a love poem in Japanese.
