Happy New Year! This is a new year, right? I’m sure you are like me, tired. Tired of the news. Tired of masks. I saw a meme the other day that called this year ‘2020-too’ and it made me more determined than ever to not let this new wave of Covid get me down. So where do I go to get some ‘me-time’, relaxation and sanity….in the beauty department, of course!
Covid or not, the industry is still pumping out new and innovative products in all categories. The trend reports predict even though masks are still around, skin will be natural while color will be bold this year. Look no further than the Pantone color of the year, Very Peri, a beautiful deep lavender that is described to “encourage courageous creativity and imaginative expression”. Hair is being bold with dramatic cuts, from spikes to mullets and the recent “wolf cut”. In skin, ingredient and sustainability strides are constantly improving so there is always a reason to keep your ear to the track on the latest. Both my daughters caught Covid last Summer and my oldest had been complaining about hair loss at the end of last year (at the ripe old age of 14!). Nothing irks me more than eyeshadow palettes. Whew, I feel like I just told a big secret and I feel so much better! Yes, it is winter, or at least the Texas version where we have 40-degree swings in the same day! No matter the temperature, wearing sunscreen is a must every day. When a product says it is “smart”, I have to try it out just to see if it lives up to the hype. Enter Vegamour’s Enso Overnight Restoring Mask. It claims to instantly adjust to your hair’s needs for repair and hydration (it smells like a dream, too!). I must admit it delivered on it’s claims because my frizz was controlled, my hair felt soft, and it just seemed….healthy. Smarty pants it is!
Here is the shocker of 2022 (so far!). I have found a new favorite red lipstick! Mr. Tom Ford, I will always love your Cherry Lush and we’ve had some good times together, but I have found a new love. The new MOB Beauty Matte Lipstick in M67 is a new level of perfection. Victor Casale, co-founder of MAC Cosmetics modeled the shade after his own Russian Red creation of many moons ago but with a better, more comfortable matte finish. It truly is the perfect red. Full stop.
