Just like that, 2017 came and went. With a new year brings fresh starts and resolutions for a better year. Most resolutions involve eating healthier, working out more frequently,   saving more money….but what about your wardrobe?  It’s Alyssa here and I’m talking 10 New Year’s Resolutions for making 2018 your most stylish year yet and for many years to come!

1. Shop Less, Buy Better

Resist purchasing those fast-fashion pieces and wasting money on something you will get tired of after a season. Invest in classic pieces that never go out of style, and support your local designers and small businesses who sell high quality and ethical clothing. Or, find fresh, new ways to wear the pieces you already own!

2. Take Care of Your Clothing

Dry clean when you’re supposed to and suck it up if you have to hand wash! You’ll thank yourself for it when that expensive LBD you bought 10 years ago still looks brand new.

3. Wear for you, not someone else

Your fashion choices shouldn’t be dictated by who you are going to see, who you are with or the people you surround yourself with. Dress to impress YOURSELF!

4. Be More Daring

Step out of your comfort zone and try a bold trend. At least once. Who knows how many compliments you could get?!

5. Find Your Style Inspiration

Whether it be a fashion blogger, celebrity, Pinterest board or fashion magazine, find a style you are drawn to.

6. Plan Ahead

Don’t waste your time in the morning deciding what to wear, it only causes stress. Set out your outfit the night before so you don’t feel rushed. This will also ensure that  you wont look at your closet and say “I have nothing to wear!”

7. Do a full closet clean-out

Anything you haven’t worn in a year needs to be seriously looked at.  If something is cheaply made and doesn’t (and has never) fit you, toss it. If that trendy shirt that you’ve had for 5 years is out of style, donate it. However, if that classic piece is great to hang on to because it never really goes out of style, keep it and challenge yourself to wear it more often and maybe even differently each time.

8. Get Organized

You will always know where your favorite pair of jeans are, your go-to work shirt, and that dress for special occasions if you keep an organized closet.  It will save you time, AND money because it will help you figure out what you’re lacking in your wardrobe.

9. Wear More Color

It’s easy to pull out the little black dress from your closet – we get it, it’s your go to! You don’t have to go head to toe rainbow – start small with a pop of a colorful pair of shoes or bold handbag. How are you supposed to know what color looks good on you if you only wear black?

10. Be confident!

DON’T compare yourself to the gorgeous models on Instagram. DO love the skin you’re in! Confidence is the most beautiful thing a person can wear.
