As many of you know, Mother’s Day is upon us. Only 3 more shopping days left until Mom’s big day. We, here at My Red Glasses, have purposely waited to give you our gift ideas until we had time to comb the local market for as many stores as we could get to (we know there are many more!), to encourage each of you to SHOP LOCAL for this very special holiday.
Below we have listed a few of the stores and some of our favorite items from each….but trust us on this, there are so many more options, which is why we are including only teasers to entice you into each of these local stores and find just the right gift for the Moms, or others that may fit the bill, to show how much you care!!!! (and don’t forget the card, that’s the one special touch that means so much!)

What is more logical for a Mom’s Day search than a stop at a bientot on River Oaks Boulevard, as accessories are that one thing that you can never go wrong with. A few ideas of note…..pearls are the gem of the season, you know I love Angela Caputti and Betty has lots more in store than we’re showing here, straw bags in neutrals or vibrant color in every imaginable shape and/or size is a must have. Plus other accessory delights include fringe bags and the very, very popular Dr. Scholls, the shoe that just keeps on ticking!
Alexandra Knight
Alexandra Knight has a site filled with the brightest, cutest little items to brighten up your Mom’s life. Just click on her name above and you’ll see much to choose from, all depicting her great style and quality without breaking the bank!
BB1 Classic
If Mom’s a little on the edgy side and/or loves unique things then this is the stop for her. Everything from great wraps and tops to jewelry boxes and vintage inspired vases. Must stop and see as the choices for her are endless at BB1 Classic in Uptown Park.
Cacao & Cardamom
What we love about this stop and shop for Mom is that if you’re lucky you may even get a taste or two while you’re deciding. The choices are so right for that fine lady you call Mom that she will marvel at the style while eating away on such yummy, delicate treats…..they actually taste as good as they look at Cacao & Cardamom across from the Galleria.
Cakewalk Style
For those of you that are loyal Cakewalk Style gals, you know that style is what this chic, little boutique is all about. So for the stylish Mom (let’s hope we all qualify?!), you must drop in and take a look. They have great apparel, like this Equipment blouse, their own Charmed Circle jewels and other accessories like scarves, shades and clutches that you would want to own…..so why not for good (ol’) tragically chic Mom?!
Cotton Club
For years and years it seems I have loved buying PJ’s from Cotton Club (note the image on the left…they are sleepwear that you may call live-in-wear as you will!) Scarves, candles and jewels are not like you’ll see elsewhere, and are just the right gift for that modern, Cali-chic Mom that we all want to be!
Events
Events in River Oaks Shopping Center has been a go-to-gift store in my books for many years and is only getting better with time and Regina’s touches. The store covers it all from the classic Mom to the trend-lover, it’s all there. This is literally just a tasting of all there is to offer, which is why a drop-in is a must to find just the right trinket, tray or simple card that says you care! Special note: remember that Events is not only about home products although they do a great job in that area, but also many great accessories as well. One of the newest is a jewelry collection called TUUM, direct from Italy and being represented here by part-time Italy resident, our town’s, Terrie Hogan-Turner.
French Cuff Boutique
French Cuff Boutique now has two locations for you…..Bellaire and Woodway. So drop in and feast your eyes on great apparel or accessories pieces for Mom, or we happen to be into scents as a choice to make her day special from this very fun boutique.
Kuhl-Linscomb
What can I say about Kuhl-Linscomb and gift-giving…..if you can’t find it there, then chances are it hasn’t been made?! Fair enough as the assortments in this unique shopping compound of stores caters to literally your every whim and do it like no other! Needless to say, EDITING, was the biggest challenge. Some favorites….the permanent flower collection, a lovely touch for any woman’s desk or nightstand; a fragrant oil, lotion or soap from more people than we have room to list; a candle selection like no other, note John Galliano is fresh from his first return runway show in a few seasons but already there’s a candle at KL, looking for a great white shirt, shop Claridge and King’s selection. I must stop as I’m over my word limit but you shouldn’t stop until you make it in there and pick for yourself just the right gift of endearment for your very special MOM!
Neiman Marcus
Neiman Marcus Galleria has Mother’s Day gift ideas a-plenty on every floor. We’ve chosen to only highlight some of the home products from Jay Strongwater and MacKenzie Childs who have both either been here to visit or will be there tomorrow to guide us through Mother’s Day shopping. In Beauty and Fragrance, it is Scent Week after all and plenty to choose from in that department as you can see from just a sampling we have chosen. All of the other natural choices are there also…..make a trip to NM and enjoy!

TOOTSIES never disappoints when it comes to finding just the right item for someone special in your life and Mother’s Day is no exception. If she’s a lover of Accessories and Jewels the selection will blow your mind…..too many choices plus if you know her salesperson, the choices across the store are endless. A jewelry favorite, Claudia Lobao will be guesting there this week to show you her latest and how appropriate with the Mother-Daughter Gene Awards there this evening that will bring you in for a great cause and get some shopping done at the same time. Have fun and maybe even Shop till you Drop, this time for Mom!
