Stressful Times and Its Impact On Our Skin

Your skin doesn't have to show it!

Yay…we made it through the election!  As I write this, and I’m sure when you read this, the election will still be in the headlines.  No matter what candidate you voted for, this has turned into a very stressful situation.

Stress causes the release of the chemicals cortisol and interleukins that cause inflammation.  These inflammatory chemicals are very helpful when our bodies are threatened by illnesses like the flu or colds, but they can wreak havoc on our skin, hair, and nails. I know when I get stressed, I experience breakouts, dark circles (because who is sleeping?!) and my hair starts to fall out. While I manage the stress by getting outside, walking the dogs and getting off social media, I also look to my beauty cabinet for additional help.

For the Skin

First Aid Beauty Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask

This creamy, leave-on mask contains Arnica Flower, Calendula, and Centella Asiatica all to help soothe dry and distressed skin.

Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturizing Face Cream

This deeply nourishing moisturizer hydrates dehydrated skin plus uses Jasmine Flower Extract to increase circulation, which results in brighter skin.

For The Hair

Vegamour Gro+ Advanced Hair Serum

This is a natural plant-based treatment that promotes new hair growth.  It also contains hemp oil that has been shown to increase circulation, which is needed on the scalp to keep the hair growing in strong and healthy.

Moonjuice SuperHair Daily Hair Nutrition

With hair, you need additional help to keep it strong and healthy from the inside.  These supplements contain biotin, kelp, ginseng and a host of other goodies that are great for your hair (your skin and nails benefit too!).

For The Nails

Clarins Hand & Nail Treatment Cream

This double duty cream contains shea butter to moisturize the skin and cuticles but also has Myrrh to strengthen nails.

Barefoot Scientist Inner Strength Nail & Cuticle Renewal Drops

This cuticle oil is chock full of ingredients that are good for your nails. Celery Seed Extract, Tea Tree Oil, and Sunflower Seed Oil are just a few that help to build strong nails, prevent discoloration, and repair damage.

While the weeks to come may be filled with uncertainty, we will get through it together.  My hope is that we all remain calm, kind, and don’t let these crazy times get in our way of having a beautiful day, inside and out!
