Summer Lovin’…Your Skincare and Makeup

Hello, my name is Chelsi and I have stopped wearing a mask.  Even typing that made me cringe.  I’m a vaccinated adult women who has yet to be comfortable admitting that I am going mask free. Do not get me wrong – if someone asks me to put it on, I will.  If I am around someone that I know is not comfortable yet and wants me to wear one, I will. And I just might be holding my breath as I pass by other people out of paranoia, but hey, it’s a start.

So now that I am going ‘full frontal’, as in showing my entire face, even I needed to brush up on preparing my skin for the Summer heat and humidity (and Texas-sized mosquitos). For so long, I had only been focused on my eye area, I almost forgot how to prep what was behind the mask (and beyond my lounge wear).  Now is the time to get your skin in tip top shape and get your Summer glow going!

Self-Tanners

Houston all the way up to NYC has seen some epic rain over the past few weeks.  And now BAM, Summer is here and we all have pale skin.  Enter in self-tanners to get an instant glow.  I have a few favorites that are easy to use, have a nice scent (not the old stinky smell), and do not streak so the effect looks natural.

SPF

Now that your fake Summer glow is in place, which is the only one I recommend, now we have to protect our skin. The UVA/UVB rays are legit and would love to prematurely age you never mind the harm it can do if it turns to skin cancer. Even for the ‘I just went to the grocery store’ moments you still need to apply sunscreen, especially on your face.  I think I have tried just about every SPF on the market and these are my favorites for being lightweight, non-greasy, good for with or without makeup and no smell.

Makeup

Makeup is BACK!!!  The industry is reporting triple digit increases month over month for makeup sales with satin lipstick being a top Google search. We have had 15 months to prepare for this moment but now that we are here, where do we start? First things first, Tinted Moisturizer.  The heat will melt most medium to full coverage foundations so opt for something lightweight and offers hint of radiance.  To get that naturally flushed look, go for sheer gel textures that work for eyes, cheeks and lips to get a polished-yet-straight-off-the-beach look.

I hope you all are getting back out there, masked or not, supporting local businesses, eating at a restaurant, making the economy happen again.  Plus, it’s nice that we can once again show a little more skin so be sure to take care of it and make it look it’s best!
