Taking a Cue from the Boys

Taking a Cue from the Boys

Say so long to your body con dresses and skinny leg jeans for the fall, and say hello to looser fitting clothing inspired by the men in our life. Julie Bortnick here today chatting with you about one of the absolute biggest trends for the season. From oversized blazers to boyfriend sweaters, oxfords, and structured briefcase style bags, the runways were filled with these styles and now the stores are filling their racks with trousers, button downs, and blazers, all for the ladies.

I, personally, never took to this ‘borrowed from the boys’ trend, and nor has Roz, but we are liking certain elements to add to an otherwise not so ‘manly’ ensemble. For example, I would absolutely pair boyfriend jeans with a pair of oxfords, but instead of a button down up top, I’d go for a vintage inspired tee with a more fitted blazer. I would also wear trousers, a slimmer button down, and heels, with some edgier jewelry and possibly a leather moto jacket. There are ways to make this trend your own, without straying too far from your personal style.

Next time you’re getting ready to go out, pop into your man’s closet and check out his wardrobe for some ideas. He may be confused, but once your fabulous menswear inspired outfit is complete, he’ll totally get it, and love it. Thank you, boys.
