Three Designers Visit Tootsies….1st in the Door, Craig Taylor + Wife Yul Debut First Sportswear Collection

Craig & Yul Taylor at Tootsies

Craig Taylor is, in fact, not a newbie to the Sportswear world. He made his mark in this business 17 years ago making tailored shirts for women that were sold in most of the fine stores in this country.  He was known for classic Menswear styling…very buttoned up, lots of pin stripes with white collar and cuffs with one differentiator, they were made in luxurious Italian fabrics in the same factories that many of the best designers in the world were having their shirts made.

However, Craig’s life and career took a change for the better about 11 years ago when he met, hired and then married award winning stylist, Yul, who stepped right in without missing a beat and brought with her a love for prints that saw a new and very successful softening and feminizing of the shirt collection.  What was to happen next was a direct result of a few things…for Yul, the stylist, always finding the appropriate partner for their stylish tops was not always easy and with the evolution of lifestyle merchandising, finding a home for ONE category on the sportswear sales floor was challenging.

Hence, this season launches the first joint effort by Craig & Yul at creating their own complete apparel and accessory collection.

Their first collection, called La Dolce Vita is inspired from their privileged access to the fine Italian mills in the Lake Como region, where designers such as Armani, Hermes and YSL have produced their top of the line goods for years.  The beauty of the collection is that it is not designed as a collection at all…each piece must stand on its own!

The new collection debuted at Tootsies last week and can be found in the best specialty stores in most cities and also at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman’s 6th floor.

Fashion colors and trends are present from sheer blouses, to merino sweaters with printed silk fronts, suede pencil skirts in luscious mixed greens of the season, and lastly, lots of winter whites from head to toe.  He’s also included printed silk dresses retailing slightly over $400.

If you haven’t seen Craig’s new collection, please stop in and take a look.  He’s not just a shirt guy anymore!
