From Dr. Angela Sturm, about the eyes……

The eyes are truly the window into a person’s soul. We express such emotion and personality in our eyes. They are the first feature that people notice and the feature that expresses love to another.

Aging around the eye is genetic

Unfortunately, eyes are also the first part of our face to show signs of aging. Changes such as excess skin, wrinkles or “bags” around the eyes can convey an unwanted impression of being “tired” or “angry”.  In addition to the natural aging process, these changes can also be influenced by genetics and may present itself as soon as early twenties. Many of us can look at our parents, grandparents, or other family members and see our future.  Fortunately, blepharoplasty, also known as an “eye lift,” is a simple procedure that can give you a refreshed new look.

Before-and-After

Straightforward solution with dramatic results

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both.  It is great for any patient with a busy personal or professional life that would like to improve the appearance of drooping upper eyelids and/or puffy bags beneath the eyes.  Eyelid surgery can be performed in our fully accredited (by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) Operating Room under IV or “twilight” sedation with minimal recovery. Or if the patient prefers general anesthesia, blepharoplasty surgery can be performed in an outpatient surgical center or a hospital. Some patients may have obstructed vision from overly redundant upper eyelid skin. In this case, blepharoplasty can improve their vision, as well!

The surgery only takes about one to three hours and there is very little discomfort post-operatively.  The incisions are virtually undetectable and downtime is minimal. Patients can expect some swelling and bruising, but after a week or less, you can resume your normal routine.
