A Great Holiday Treat…..Tilman Fertitta is Bringing Steve Tyrell’s Holiday Show To The Post Oak Hotel

Thanks to Tilman Fertitta for bringing Steve Back 'Home for the Holidays' with shows at his hotel this December 14-19

Steve Tyrell at the Cafe Carlyle in NYC during past holiday seasons……still dark this year but happily he can be seen doing that show at The Post Oak Hotel here in Houston

For myself, my family and many friends, it has been difficult to adjust to no trip to the magical city of New York in December this year to see my brother, Steve Tyrell, do his annual holiday show at the Cafe Carlyle……a six week gig including the weeks from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve for what would have been his 16th year! However, Cafe Carlyle was just not ready this year to open up after being shuttered for 18 months. (plans are for it to resume for next year!) So, to the rescue for many, at least we Houstonians, Steve’s friend and Billionaire Tilman Fertitta, owner of The Post Oak Hotel was able to find a week in December that was available at that ever-busy hot spot and together they have collaborated on a week in December that will work for all……happy to say that is evenings of December 14 through Sunday Brunch on December 19.

The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is recreating New York’s most famous, intimate supper club with Steve, who has been doing his holiday show for what would have been his 16th year at the Cafe Carlyle, replacing the infamous Bobby Short whose tenure at that same time-frame lasted 36 years! Steve takes great pride in saying, “I’m almost half-way there!”

For many of you that know me, you know the history of my brother Steve. His career has spanned five decades, he has achieved success as a singer, producer, musical supervisor and most recently as a radio host on the Jazz 91 station. He has a Grammy, a day-time Emmy and an ACE Award to his credit, many movie credits with the most famous being his break-through Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II. His album/CD collection has spanned over decades with his latest tribute to Ray Charles, Shades of Ray, his 13th, just releasing as of November 5, 2021. He has performed in the Houston area many times……always happy to come home to his many family and friends that have been important in his life over the years and continue to support him.

  1. Roz – what a delightful piece you have written. Thank you so much. Obviously, the Carlyle’s loss is Houston’s gain. How great that you will have your lovely brother so close over the holidays. Best wishes to you all.
