The Holidays are a blissful and yet still a stressful time. The last thing, any of us need to worry about are those fashion emergencies. We have compiled a helpful list of fashion tricks and tips to solve even the most dire fashion 911s.

Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind for the holiday season …

High heel trick: Count from your big toe and wrap your third and fourth toe together with medical tape. This alleviates pain on a nerve and allows you to wear your high heels longer and pain free. Makes for longer, chic party time for all!

Red wine stains: Remove red wine stains by gently blotting it with white wine. This tip can help save that outfit while you’re at holiday party.

Deodorant stains/Makeup stains: Baby wipes solve just about any stain issues there are. Works especially well for pesky deodorant and makeup stains. If it’s a black outfit and you don’t have access to baby wipes then rub the stained part on another clean section of the same garment, also cold water can sometime do the trick also;  this will also remove the stain.

Removing stains from Leather apparel: This trick I tribute to Bobbie Weinstein who shared her secret with me recently but I have yet to try. Someone bumps you in a crowd and stains your favorite leather jacket….when you are back home, put dry cornstarch on the spot and leave it there for awhile, it will lift out the oil or stain. It can be patted off.  May need to repeat a few times but will eventually remove it, does not need to be sent to cleaners, thus keeping that soft feel to your leathers.

Preventing runs in tights: Now that the covered leg is the leg fashion of choice, we have to return to our old tricks to save those tights while we are wearing them. Make sure to spray them with hairspray. This is how you’re able to pro-long the life of your favorite pair of tights or hosiery. If you already have a run in you stocking then coat it with clear nail polish. Old tricks we have used on photo shoots for years….absolutely works!

Preventing loose buttons from unraveling: Coat the button and loose strings with clear nail polish.

Cleaning dirt off from suede shoes: Remove the crust off from a loaf of bread, let it get stale and then use it to rub the dirt off. Your favorite suede fashion item will be back to being brand new. If you can’t wait and need an immediate quick fix then use a nail file on the dirt and rub gently.

Get fuzz off of your sweater: Use a pumice stone to remove all the fuzz, pilling and balling in your favorite sweater. Best part, is that it will still feel brand new soft.

Prevent your dark jeans from fading: We all have a favorite pair of dark washed jeans, to keep them fresh make sure to add ½ cup of distilled vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Simple and it works!

Break in or Stretch your favorite pair of shoes: Make sure to put them on with a thick sock, and walk around in them. To speed up the process place a hair dryer on them and it will help stretch them out faster.

Scratches in leather: Dab some moisturizer on it with a Q-tip until it’s gone. This helps quickly condition the leather and remove the scratch.

Wrinkles in clothes: Whether you’re traveling or on the go, a huge issue is wrinkles in our favorite apparel items. One of the best quick fixes is using a wrinkle releaser spray.

Stuck zipper: Use Vaseline to help coat the front and back of the zipper. Then slowly zip and unzip the zipper. This is a great quick fix and has always worked for us.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the  first fashion crisis we always have inevitably starts with our bras. That is why we have some helpful products to help assist us when it comes to finding support and coverage for all the different outfits.

  • Bra extenders, are helpful in some extra give with our bras.
  • Bra converters, are amazing transforming our favorite everyday bra into the perfect holiday bra and hiding the straps.
  • Fashion Tape, this is a universal product that you can use to keep tops in place or any tall boots that fall down. I personally know many friends that have used fashion tap for favorite over the knee boots and for V-neck dresses or tops to ensure that they are secure.
  • Bring it up Breast Lifts, are very handy when you feel that you need a little more support and security in your holiday outfits.
