Glamour Is Back On the Champagne Carpet at the 2023 Oscars

White for evening owned the night being its biggest fashion idea!

For many of us, The Oscars are not just about awarding the best films and performances, but also about showcasing the latest trends in fashion on the red carpet, (which this year was changed to a more subdued champagne-colored hue). This year’s event was no exception, as we saw an array of stunning gowns and glamorous outfits from Hollywood and Fashion’s finest.

White for night was the fashion message of the evening! The spectrum of colors followed with black, always a staple, taking on a newer twist, most notably in monochromatic head-to-toe sequin. From the elegance of neutrals to the pops of bold color and shine galore, which this year, designers favored silver over gold as the glistening metal of choice.

The other aspect of “oscar-watching” is to look and learn the newest styling tips for accessories, jewelry, hair and makeup. The number one accessory for the evening was Jewelry. Gems are always a highlight of Oscar night, but this year necklaces reigned top spot with even a highlight of “diamonds in the hair” for Michelle Yeoh. Next in line for the title of accessory of the night was gloves… opera length, of course, covering the arms. This trend (which had me enamored all evening!), has been brewing for awhile and was so well executed from the most elegant to the edgiest of styles. Hair was mostly simple and makeup was either softest shades to the boldness of red lips!! All in all it can be said that the 2023 Oscars carpet was definitely a return to glamour and a visual treat for fashion enthusiasts like us!

White For Evening

  • Emily Blunt in Valentino

White: The star of the night this year, was one of the more popular non-colors, White, with stars like Emily Blunt and Michelle Williams donning this chic color. Wearing white for evening has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially at high-profile events like the Oscars. I find it a refreshing and a sophisticated alternative to the dark colors that usually dominate the red carpet. White exudes elegance, purity, and sophistication, making it a perfect choice for those who want to make a statement. When done right, wearing white on the Red (or in this case, Champagne) Carpet can make a stunning fashion statement that is sure to turn heads and be great showcase for the many stunning jewels of the evening.

The Color Black

  • Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé

Black: Beading on a gown comes across both elegant and edgy, with the stiff beads providing a striking contrast against the flowing fabric of the gown. The black beading can add texture and dimension to a gown, creating a captivating and glamorous look that is sure to turn heads. Of course, no other color is better for showcasing diamonds, emeralds or other precious stones than an elegant black gown. When paired with the right accessories, such a, this look can be both classic and modern at the same time.

Bold Color

  • Cara Delevingne in Elie Saab

Bold Color: While black and white are classic choices, many stars opted for vibrant hues this year as well. These bold color choices not only showcase the celebrity’s unique style but also add an exciting element to the carpet. However, pulling off a bright-colored gown requires confidence and careful consideration of accessories and makeup. While some might consider bright colors too bold for a formal event like the Oscars, many celebrities have proven that it’s possible to make a statement with a bold choice of color and still look elegant and glamorous.

Silver Sparkles

  • Jamie Lee Curtis in Dolce & Gabbana

Sparkle: One trend that never goes out of style. Celebrities were spotted wearing dazzling, metallic gowns on this year’s Red Carpet. These gowns feel extra glamorous when the light reflects off of their beads or sequins. It was apparent that silver gowns were the popular metal choice for celebrities at this the biggest event of them all!

Poufs

  • Fan Bingbing in Tony Ward

Poufs: One of the newer fashion trends that stood out at the 2023 Oscars was the return of what I have named big “poufs” on the carpet. These are my words for the amazing over-skirts or coats that were layered over more subtle or in some cases bare sexy looks. Stars were seen donning voluminous gowns with oversized skirts, creating a dramatic and romantic effect. Some actresses paired their poufy gowns with simple accessories and sleek hairstyles, while others opted for more statement-making pieces like bold jewelry and intricate updos. Overall, the pouf trend added a touch of whimsy and fantasy to the red carpet, making for some truly memorable fashion moments.

Opera Length Gloves…Covered Arms

  • Shohreh Aghdashloo in Christian Siriano

Opera Length Gloves.……I’ve previously mentioned this up-and-coming trend, and it doesn’t seem to be going away soon! Stars were spotted on this year’s Champagne Carpet wearing gloves and slender sleeves practically up to their shoulder. These slim sleeves were seen in a variety of ways, but the bottom line is the stars seemed a bit more covered up than usual….the bare look was not the winner of the night!

Men

Last but not least, the men showed up and showed off at this year’s Oscars ceremony. We saw every trend represented in this group, from black beading to silver to an array of colors.

The 2023 Oscars Carpet was a showcase of stunning fashion choices and iconic looks that will go down in history. From the chicest white to the classic black ensembles to the bold and colorful statement pieces, the stars brought their A-game to the Oscar’s carpet. The poufs and gloves added a touch of fantasy and elegance, while the silver and metallic tones brought a futuristic and modern edge to the fashion scene. It’s safe to say that this year’s Oscars Champagne Carpet did not disappoint in terms of fashion, and we can’t wait to see these trends come to life in our Retail stores and interpreted on our many H-town fashion ladies!
