It’s Rodeo Time!

Well, the 2020 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo has officially kicked off! This is always one of THE most fun times in the City of Houston, and you can feel the excitement around town. Aside from the actual rodeo (carnival, concerts, livestock show, and so on), there are also some great events, happenings, and deals happening around our wonderful city. So keep on reading because we’re listing some of our favorites!

Arnaldo Richards’ Picos –

It’s Rodeo time at Picos! Celebrate Houston’s most anticipated events with an array of specials from March 2-20. Start the week off with 50% off Fajitas for Two, along with Happy Hour drink specials on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7am-10pm. From Wednesday through Friday, Happy Hour will be from 1:30pm to 6:30pm, including $7 margaritas and select beers for $3. Food specials for this Rodeo season will include Chamorro De Puerco Carnitas Style & Cowboy Steak, available every day of the week. Gold Badge holders will receive a free appetizer with purchase of 2 entrees (one special per table).  

Axis Lounge at Royal Sonesta Houston –

Royal Sonesta Houston is featuring half-priced bar snacks all day at Axis Lounge during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo from March 3-22. Guests are required to show their event ticket from that day. Menu items include: Ground Beef, BBQ Pulled Pork, Nashville Chicken, Crab Cake and Pork Belly Sliders, seasonal Flatbreads, Crispy Rock Shrimp, Charred Shishito Peppers and a variety of dips. Prices vary ($11-17).  

Brennan’s of Houston –

Brennan’s of Houston is celebrating Go Texan Day with a three-course prix-fixe menu: Texas duck chili frito pie, blackened catfish tacos, fried cheesecake empanada.

C. Baldwin Hotel –

Goode Company Armadillo Palace –

Kick off Rodeo Season with live country music at Goode Company Armadillo Palace! Houston’s premier restaurant, bar and honky-tonk destination boasts two signature bars, a spacious dance hall, and twinkling backyard beer garden. It’s a tribute to all-things-Texas and the perfect place to celebrate the start of the Houston Rodeo. There will be live music all weekend beginning at 11PM featuring Bri Bagwell (2/27), Dale Watson (2/28), and Copper Chief (2/29). InterContinental Hotel- Medical Center –

Decide to turn your Rodeo visit into a staycation? Go for comfort and style at the AAA Four Diamond InterContinental Hotel – Medical Center, which is located 15 blocks from all the action and who is one of the official shuttle stops, which is a straight shot to the cowboys and cowgirls. After visiting the bucking broncos and fried food bonanza, relax at this cosmopolitan property – the first luxury hotel built in the Medical Center in decades – with an affordable rodeo package that includes one-night stay for two, two drinks at The Naturalist bar and lounge, and a breakfast credit for two at the excellent Safina Mediterranean restaurant. Packages start at $259 and are available throughout the rodeo, March 3-22.

Specials: smokehouse burger, brisket potato, and brisket sandwich

Mendocino Farms –

This sandwich includes brisket smoked with French oak wine-barrel wood by Harlem Road Texas BBQ’s Ara Malekian, plus Applewood-smoked bacon, white truffle aioli, red onions, and arugula. It’s running for $12.95, and $1 for each sandwich goes toward the Rodeo Education Fund. The sandwich will be available for a limited time.

Revolve Bar + Grill –

Texas themed Hotel Derek’s Revolve Bar + Grill’s rodeo offering from newly appointed Executive Chef Rishi Singh, formerly of Boheme. The Blazing Saddles rodeo special includes three sizzling Ribeye Steak Tacos ($16) topped with habanero mango salsa and a generous helping of smoked refried beans on the side. Available March 2 to 22 during lunch and dinner service.

Safina Mediterranean –

Safina Mediterranean or The Naturalist, the elegant restaurant and bar located in the InterContinental Hotel – Medical Center, is serving up a Rodeo-inspired dish all day for the duration of the Rodeo March 3-22. The Pressed Pulled Pork Sandwich features roasted pulled pork, Spanish chorizo, house made pickles, marinated tomato, Gruyere cheese, topped with salsa verde. For $12, it’ll put a giddy up in your step. 

State of Grace –

Kick back with a specialty Rodeo cocktail from State of Grace. The Rodeo Milk Punch is a classic New Orleans style cocktail, made with bourbon (Jim Beam), milk/cream vanilla blend, and garnished with grated nutmeg ($11).  Available all day from March 3 to 22.
