Former CFDA winner, Jonathan Simkhai buzzed into Tootsies for a couple of hours recently and I made it there just in time to get a quick hug and kiss from this great looking guy with a beautiful collection to show
It was one of those days were I couldn’t and shouldn’t leave my office but I really wanted to meet Simkhai and see his clothes ‘live’ at Tootsies. So I literally ran there to catch a glimpse, knowing an interview would not be possible, too late! He was in the back lovin’ his barbecue while the driver waited. (that’s how tight the time was!) I looked at his collection of styles from Tootsies stock and many wonderful pieces of his Fall Collection that he had brought along as they were packing them up and was so wowed by what I saw….it was worth the trip!
I have thought much of that afternoon and the exquisite apparel that Simkhai had to show, with his current collection sold at Tootsies now. However, I was recently reminded again, of his talent and style when following the Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet. There, I saw Diane Kruger wearing an amazing Jonathan Simkhai gown on the carpet for the festival’s closing ceremony.

I wish I could have shared those quick glimpses of the collections that were at Tootsies that afternoon as I breezed in and he was flying out, but in just that brief moment and connection I knew that this winner of the 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award was truly that….a winner and one to watch as he has only just begun to receive due recognition for his talent.
