Oscar Night for the Fashion World…Met Gala 2014

Inauguration Ceremony for the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the  Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City

This year’s Met Gala, held on Monday evening, May 5th in Manhattan is widely referred to in the fashion biz as the Oscars of Fashion.  This year was very special in a couple of ways.  First of all, it was the Inauguration of the re-naming of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, to the Anna Wintour Costume Center. In town to cut the ribbon at the inaugural ceremony was a special lady very familiar with inaugurations, First Lady, Michelle Obama.  Also, as it honors an icon of the fashion world each year, this year, it honored couturier, Charles James.  The buzz at the event was the rumor that Harvey Weinstein, a special friend to fashion, was looking to buy the Charles James label and may have plans to revive it with wife, talented Georgina Chapman of Marchesa, on board as Creative Consultant.  We’ll just have to wait and see on that one.

Below are some of the highlights of the evening……there were literally hundreds of photos and beautiful gowns to pick from.  We found these to be some of our favorites and have separated the single gals from the stunning couples, all of which made for a beautiful evening, I’m sure.
