Can anything beat a great chocolate chip cookie?? Well, we are big cookie people over here and recently received a shipment of these incredible cookies shipped to me from NYC and thought they were the best chocolate chip I had ever eaten (rivals only Tiny Boxwood’s for that honor!) So, even if you’re not as die-hard as we are, you’ve more than likely heard of NYC’s Levain Bakery, which started as a small bread shop 25 years ago on the Upper West Side. When they started whipping up and selling their 6-ounce cookies, they flew out the door and it’s been a world-famous cookie ever since.
Well, lucky for us Texans, you can now enjoy Levain Bakery cookies from Central Market. Levain Bakery has introduced a new line of frozen cookies that will be sold in Central Market stores across the state. Flavors will include: Chocolate Chip Walnut; Oatmeal Raisin; Two Chip Chocolate Chip; and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip.
The cookies are fully baked (not raw dough!) and can be heated to crispy outside, gooey inside perfection in 5 minutes.
“For years we’ve considered bringing packaged cookies to grocery stores, but it took time to come up with the perfect delicious cookie experience that would be a fitting representation of what our amazing customers have come to expect at the Bakery,” said Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes, founders of Levain Bakery.
And another piece of great news is that the Levain Bakery team maintained its original bakery recipes, without additional preservatives or texture-enhancing additives.
The new line will offer two-ounce “everyday indulgence” sized cookies – great for snacking. To heat the cookies for that fresh-from-the-bakery taste, preheat your oven or toaster oven to 350º. Place unwrapped cookies on a baking sheet and into the preheated oven for approximately five minutes. Remove cookies from the oven and let them cool for at least one minute. Eat them carefully … they’ll be hot! Pro-tip: Levain Bakery cookies are great at room temperature. Defrost cookies on the counter for an hour and enjoy!
