Hard to believe this is already our 10th official year of Shop With Heart Card… it truly feels like yesterday when this all began for the Houston Heart Guild, when a group of hard-working, heart-minded ladies combined efforts to start this campaign. And yet here we are again, ready for another wonderful season of shopping with purpose here in Houston!!
For those of you who have followed along over the years, you know this is a project that is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve had the privilege of being involved alongside so many of those dedicated Heart Guild supporters, and it continues to be one of the most meaningful ways our community comes together. This year, I am so honored to serve once again as Co-Chair along with Sandra Porter, helping to bring this incredible event to life.
For those who may be new to Shop With Heart Card, it is a 10-day shopping and dining event that brings together many of Houston’s favorite retailers and restaurants, all in support of the American Heart Association. With the purchase of a card, you receive 20% off regularly priced merchandise and services, along with special dining offers at participating locations across the city. It truly is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to give back while supporting local businesses at the same time.
This year’s event will take place from Friday, May 1 throughSunday, May 10, and I always encourage everyone to make the most of those days. Whether you’re shopping for something special such as a gift for Mom, a Graduate or a special bride and groom…….maybe updating your wardrobe for the season, or simply enjoying a lunch or dinner out, it all adds up to something much greater.
One of the most meaningful aspects of this event is that 100% of the proceeds from card sales go directly to the American Heart Association, helping to fund lifesaving research, education, and programs right here in our community. It is a wonderful reminder that even the smallest purchase can make a lasting impact.
We will also be kicking things off with a wonderful event at Kuhl-Linscomb on April 29th, which is always such a fun way to begin the festivities and gather together before the shopping officially starts. I truly hope you will join us this year, whether you’ve participated before or are discovering it for the first time. It’s a meaningful tradition for so many of us, and one that continues to grow each year.
